Manchester City loanee RB Leipzig is close to completing a move to the Bundesliga with the East German side according to Kicker. The news comes after both sides seemed to be at an impasse over bringing in the Spaniard. Now, it appears that he may become a permanent part of the Leipzig side.
Angelino has been a journeyman since signing with Manchester City back in 2014. His loan spells included visits to NYCFC, Girona, Mallorca and PSV before ending up with manager Julian Nagelsmann in Germany. While he found minutes in other sides, it was in Leipzig that he made a statement as a starter. wingback is a position that Leipzig are overflowing in but the 23-year-old made it difficult for Nagelsmann to choose between him, Lukas Klostermann or Marcel Halstenberg. Once the season ended, Leipzig made it a top priority to bring back the player and make him a permanent part of the team.
The move makes the most sense for Angelino who has found himself on the outside of Pep Guardiola's plans at Manchester City. Despite showing his own ability, it appeared as if the team was more willing to keep him on the sideline than make him a part of the long-term plans. That has not been the case in Leipzig and the Bundesliga side will more than likely guarantee more Champions League time on the pitch over the next year.
The move won't be cheap as the anticipated fee will be between 10 to 20 million Euros. Leipzig are not strapped for cash but have said in the past that they will only spend on players that are keen to Nagelsmann's plans.
