"I am highly motivated to get to grips right away," said Solet. "I want to build up playing time here and will give everything I have for the team and the fans."
Solet made only two appearances for Lyon but missed a significant amount of time due to a knee injury. Most of his efforts were put towards Lyon B where he played 29 games. Previous to that he played with Stade Lavallois, a lower division team in the French football ranks.
The move continues to show Salzburg's initiative to keep the team young and exciting. Head coach Jesse Marsch delivered both the league title and cup in his first year in charge, despite having a relatively young side. Major players like Munas Dabbur departed the team before Marsch took over and now he'll have to navigate without striker Hwang Hee-chan.
Solet represents a new direction for the defense. Currently being helmed by Andreas Ramalho, Solet could be pushing the old guard out in the next few years.
"We have been observing Oumar Solet's development for a while," said Sporting Director Christoph Freund. "He has been back in training for Lyon and we presume he will be back to his best vert soon."
