Red Bull Salzburg are reloading before the start of the Austrian Bundesliga season with the signing of Brentford midfielder Mads Bidstrup. The 22 year-old Danish player has found it hard making his way into the squad with a most recent loan to FC Nordsjaelland being where he played in the 2022-23 season.
"Mads has an incredible mentality and suits our playing style in Salzburg perfectly," said Sporting Director Christoph Freund. "He is very versatile too and can be played anywhere in the midfield. Mads has played in a few different countries and already has quite a bit of experience."
Bidstrup only played 14 games for Brentford but a total off 57 in the Danish Superliga in the last two seasons. At such a young age, the move will give Bidstrup more playing time with a club that is a constant in the UEFA Champions League and has dominated the domestic competitions.
"I am a player who likes to be aggressive," said Bistrup. "It is the perfect step for me to move here. My compatriot Maurits Kjaergaard told me everything about life here in Salzburg, of course, and I have only heard good things."
Salzburg will start their campaign with an Austrian Cup match on Sunday against SG RDagger. The Austrian Bundesliga will begin one week later as the club hopes to continue their dominance and win the club's 18th championship and their 11th in a row.
