Former New York Red Bulls homegrown striker Zach Ryan has signed with Loudoun United for the 2023 USL Championship season. The 24 year-old forward made 12 appearances for New York Red Bulls II and debuted in MLS against Toronto FC last campaign.
"He is a very talented striker," said Loudoun head coach Ryan Martin. "Clinical in front of goal and around the box. He makes dangerous runs in behind the backline and creates numerous chances from his pressing."
Ryan was a surplus for New York who now have Elias Manuel, Patryk Klimala, Tom Barlow and Cameron Harper in the forward position. While Ryan did show signs of progress, he will have far more time on the field with Loudoun than New York or New York Red Bulls II who have departed USL for MLS Next Pro.
Ryan was a standout at Stanford University where he made 73 appearances, scoring 31 goals and notching 13 assists. He helped the team win the PAC-12 championship in 2018 and 2020 before going pro.
