New York Red Bulls head coach Gerhard Struber was elated with his team's performance, which saw the away side take all three points over Atlanta 2-1 at Mercedes Benz Stadium on Wednesday evening. It was a win that puts New York back on track as they hope to secure a home playoff game.
"It was a massive win in all directions," said Struber after the game. "From the mental side, the past few weeks were not so easy, we had a little bit of a situation of not the right results."
It was New York's first win in five games and reasserts the team's dominance on the road. This comes after another devastating home loss that has the team with one of the worst home records of any playoff contending team.
"I would say in all for phases today I can see we controlled the game," said Struber. "In the end I know Atlanta has outstanding quality in their roster, but I think our principles, our tactical identity, crashed them with big hits."
It will be a quick turnaround and a return to Red Bull Arena for Struber's team as they will host FC Cincinnati in a pivotal playoff race game.
