RB Leipzig striker Alexander Soerloth joins La Liga club Real Sociedad on loan for the 2021-22 season. The Norwegian international joined the East German club last season but was unable to break through to the first time under Julian Nagelsmann. Now that Jesse Marsch is in charge, it appears that the striker's services are currently no longer needed.
Soerloth joined Leipzig after a loan stint in Turkey with Trabzonspor. He was unable to break through in the English Premier League with Crystal Palace and was hoping that the move to the Bundesliga would be the spark that his career needed. Last season he played in 37 games for the club but only scored seven times and notched three assists. Combined with Hwang Hee-chan, the team was never able to produce the amount of goals that they lost with the transfer of Timo Werner.
This off-season saw a major change with the acquisition of Andre Silva from Frankfurt. The Portuguese striker instantly replaced Soerloth in the line-up, clearing the way for a loan move to Spain. Luckily for him, he will still be playing in Europe as Sociedad qualified for the Europa league by finishing fifth in the league.
