New York Red Bulls II have been silent for some time but now they have announced that Kyle Zajec will be returning to the club for the 2021 USL Championship season.
"We are happy to have Kyle back with our club for another year," said head coach John Wolyniec. "Before his injury, he showed the type of leader and player he can be, and we are excited to have him with us and to see him keep building those abilities."
Zajec has been with the club in some capacity since their start in 2015. The academy standout made three appearances in the team's inaugural campaign but became a regular in 2019. Over that time he has made 24 appearances and scored three goals.
Unfortunately, Zajec's 2020 campaign was cut short due to a fractured foot. He is seen by the club as a potential captain and an important part in getting the team back to the playoffs in the coming season.
"I am thankful to the organization for giving me the opportunity to continue my career with the club," said Zajec. "I'm focusing on my rehab right now and I am looking forward to the new season and have many aspirations for 2021."
